The Astronomer's Painting - What's Going On?

Kirk: I've seen this painting a lot to try and kind of imagine what's going on here describe a little bit of story maybe even put yourself in his place. The first, I guess like, contemplation would be the first word if I were just seeing this for the first time. Right, it looks like he's contemplating something he's thinking about some problem that he's probably working on there's paper in front of him. And then there's a rumpled piece of cloth on the table in front of them so it's kind of things are a little bit disarray.
