The Plotonic Idea of the Crab
Reality itself, in a blind, unconscious process, produces situations into which certain patterns emerge to fulfil those situations. So the pressures on crustaceans tend to push them toward the pattern - or what we might call the platonic idea of the crab. We could extrapolate this to mean that every single phenomenon which comes into being does so in response to the conditions set by materiality. To speak metaphysically, that's reality willing something to exist.
