The magic of two people talking to each other is the other person can help change your subjective internal state in a way that maybe you individually can't always do yourself. I think that's part of why talking to somebody else can actually be a lot better than just kind of staring off in the distance. It cues it up, you're sort of foreshadowing that that's how you work. The best negotiators are able to unlock that common language in the most stressful periods and that's what gets me high off of negotiation.
