Cattle stampeded back towards the soldiers of the askia, crashing a great number between them. Moroccan muskets let off puffs of smoke from high ground in the distance. Itis at this point that the songhai king, ishark seems to have begun to panic. He ordered his cavalry to charge in against the line of musketeers. But the cavalry charge would be hopelessly doomed.
