Is EROI a Great Tool to Analyze Things?

I think net energy is one of the most important topics that our culture doesn't understand. We have to spend energy to get energy, and what's left over is what power society. I did my PhD thesis on EROI as you know, and I just think it's a blunt instrument at best because you can come up with almost any number depending on the boundaries of analysis. But then using E ROI as a fine tool to analyze things, it's, it's fraught with peril.
