CHAPTER

The People of the a Group - A Comparison of the a and B Groups

The a group overlaps chronologically with these residents of upper nubia around three thousand b c. They belonged to what's known as the pre carma culture. Other groups made their home in the deserts of western sudan, where there was still ground water and seasonal rivers to provide pasturage for their live stock. The sorgum growers along the atbara river became the cultural backbone of the aretrean and ethiopian lowlands and then later the highlands. This state, which we call the kingdom of karma, emerged around 25 hundred b c.
