Do You Know How Many Children Are Prescribed Antidepressants?
2.3% of 12 to 18 year olds had ever been prescribed an antidepressant, says Dr Ruth Jack from the University of Nottingham. But a charity survey said 37%. That's an extraordinary difference - and there is another source of data we can look at. The NHS in England publishes numbers on how many patients are prescribed antidepressants by GPs in a single year. And although their age groupings are slightly different, they tell a similar story as Dr Jack's results.
