The Importance of Recognizing God's Relationship to the World

I think the answer could be some of the biblical verses that you take a crack at in chapter two. Some of which on their face don't immediately seem to lend themselves to a liberal interpretation. But then I wonder, does it then seem to the general public to be a form of special pleading? It doesn't follow from that that we get it right on anything like a consistent base.
