The Role of Forces in Matter
There's a lot going on inside the nucleus to hold that together. The electrostatic force there is very strong, right? It goes like one over the distance squared and these protons are very close together inside the nucleus. But the force pulling them together is even more powerful. This is the strong nuclear force. And that's what lets the protons and neutrons stick together.
