The Marxist Solution to the Problem of Commodities
Marx was trying to say that the commodity is endowed with mystical powers, which it really does not have. Not only trade, but private property and the division of labor are now taken up into commodity fetishism. The possibility is that one day it might be used against the producer to exploit an oppressor. For this reason, no society can permanently retain control over its own production until it abolishes exchange between individuals.
