Darwin's Descent of Man

Darwin wrote that the site of a peacock makes him sick. He couldn't explain with his original theory why the peacock had those feathers because they would have been costly to peacock. It remains fair to say that Darwin was a direct and disastrous influence, not only on Hitler, but on the whole mid 20th century political mindset. There is no way I can be convinced that Darwin did not know exactly what he was saying and what he was doing when he was talking about survival of the fittest.
