The illusion of knowledge is the thinking that just because you're not going to be able to do that, you'll be able to. The term that I cover in the book and it's a well studied concept is the illusion of explanatory depth. It's a really fancy way of saying that you really think you understand something until you're forced to explain it in detail. That could very well be a career skill.
