How Do I Get Good Readers and Poor Readers to Read Better?

He says factual knowledge must precede skill and then he gives a few examples so he talks about how background knowledge is essential to reading comprehension. He also gives some explanation about the importance of background knowledge by giving this really interesting example where we can see how much is assumed. So that's number one why not students like school. Number two how can I teach students the skills they need when standardized tests require only facts.
