Lacey's Locked in Syndrome
Some sources were alarmingly quick at trying to say that Lacey also suffered from locked in syndrome, which is a rare neurological disorder characterized by complete paralysis of voluntary muscles. She had couch foam and feces in her stomach, indicating she had at least moved an arm to consume. Locked in syndrome is caused by damage to the pons, a part of the brainstem that contains nerve fibers that relate information to other areas of the brain.
