Hoover and McCarthy

Hoover is the more important anti-communist figure he's there before McCarthy and long after McCarthy is gone. Hoover originally kind of saw him as an ally and McCarthy wanted nothing more than to have all of the authority of Jay Edgar Hoover on his side. But in the end Hoover's political radar and his desire to stay in good graces of the Eisenhower administration means that he really turns on McCarthy.
