This story is set in post World War II Great Britain. What was life like for the average Brit in the late 1940s? Not much money around. Most of this was set in London or nearby. So a lot of bombsite still, business still, not back on its feet. People on the whole, not well off, unless there was some family money stored up. But London Live tried to struggle back to its feet and put itself back in the picture after a devastating war. The book opens with the tragic story of Olive Durandikum.
