There's some evidence in political science that the committees that you choose to serve on reflect the needs of your constituents. So if you look, for example, at the am senate agriculture committee, rate, that's a committee that typically is made up of members who represent states that have more farming industry rates. You can be on more than one sub committee. The house has over a hundred sub committees, so most members are on at least two.
