Joel Silverstein is a professor of Middle East Studies at Syracuse University. He says he spent 10 years as a failed political consultant in Washington, D.C., before writing his first novel. The Last Jihad was about radical Islamist terrorists hijacking a plane and attacking the U.S.; it became number one on Amazon's bestseller list for 11 weeks.
