3.3 Volt Pin Shenanigans?
Alex Kretschmar says the drives have been working fine for three years. He tried pulling a 3.3 volt pin off the power connector on the drive and it didn't work. An easier solution is to use Captain Tape, an electrically-isolative tape that can block electrical contact from making a circuit.
