The History of the Pala Synagogue

Roman Catholic archaeologist Father Bargill Pichner conducted an excavation and study of the location. He determined that the lower courses of stone work date from not long after the Roman destruction in 70 common era. According to the story told by the stonework of the synagogue, it had been built from the ruins of Jerusalem between two Jewish revolts during a period when Jews were rarely allowed into Jerusalem.
