I Read the Bible Virtually

The Bible is an anthology of 66 different books. The phrase I read the Bible literally assumes there is one consistent message and that we are to read it in one way. That's not all that the phrase assumes when used within fundamentalist evangelicalism or other Christian traditions. In what ways is that word literally overworked and underpaid?
