"We would hunt we would hunt like flooded fields, sloughs, not a whole lot of sand," he says. "It was kind of, you know, you duck hunt in the morning and then go sit in a deer stand there in the evening." He still hunts with his family once a year; they live in Lubbock but have moved back to Pittsburgh for work. They've hunted sandhill cranes up by the Lubbock: "You like that? Red by the sky?"
