Viktor Frankl discovered that it did not really matter what we expected from life. He was able to survive Auschwitz by daily seeing himself as if he were in a university. The mental shift that's involved came to be known as reframing. It tells us that though we can't always change the circumstances, we can change the way we see them and this itself changes the way we feel.
