The Balance Between Self Care and Relationships
We have two needs that are opposing, that we're trying to satisfy simultaneously. We want a sense of fit and being understood in some way. The other need which is contradictory to that is we've a need for uniqueness. E sharon brewer at ohio state university has a theory. She calls it optimal distinctiveness theory. So the balance is not about necessary self care in our relationships but how we honor ourselves.
