The Third Dynamic of the War
Shiloh predated Gettysburg by 15 months, and so 331 battles followed Shiloh. A single transaction between enemy soldiers cannot possibly perform the function of the battle at large complex because these transactions are stuffed with specific human realities. The third dynamism refers to this feature that irreducibly complex engagements are repeated same but different,. Each taking the place on the canvas of the war, each influencing in some way every battle which takes place contemporaneously after all like chess moves.
