Caesar and the Roman Republic

After eight years of warfare, caesar had finally established full control over all of gaul. The optimates who hated caesar so much now looked to be in a much stronger position. They made it clear that the second caesar came back to rome, he would be prosecuted for corruption and war crimes. Caesar decided on a move that was bold, bordering on suicidal: He crossed the rubicon river with an army from sisalpine gaul.
