i think there's a total miopic misapprehension and sort of like projection going on with american, or conservatives, attachment to hungary. They see this neo gothic, neobrok neo renaisance architecture and think, like, this is a place that has been continuously old and traditional for all this time. That such a classic american, a parochialism,. they look at europe and see always a sort of tradition of continuity from antiquity to modernity - which is just not there remotely.
