The Importance of Emotional Authenticity

Many young followers of Jesus are wrestling because they're like, my emotions right now are pain. And the Word of God is telling me to stand in thankfulness. But it feels like if I stood in thankfulness, I would be being disingenuous to the emotions that I'm experiencing. So when happiness is our goal, experiences are our truth. Spiritual euphoria is our pursuit. We come to worship and we love Jesus, but if we're honest, the secret desires of our heart is that I need to tell myself I'm meaningful.
