It was easily defensible by just a few men or possibly women because of how remote and hard it was to climb up and get there. And when we talk about the sea people they didn't just bring destruction. They may have brought diseases. This period during the Bronze Age collapse is a time of great migration of people. People are moving wherever they can to survive.
