Police arrest mell and at his webster office, and they charge him with capital murder. With mell behind bars, police obtain a search warrant and scour his office. They find a photo of mell on candy cosied up together at a night club. Candy only leaves rochester once during this time to visit jacques's grave in d c. She calls her alleged affair with mell absurd and denies that she or he had anything to do with jacques murder.
