Mirabeau's Death in Sohi

Mirabeau's death was seized on as a vehicle to launch a project that had been kicked around for years and whose time had now come. The idea was to create a space where the best men of france could be buried together in a national tomb, something of a westminster abbey for the french. A not quite finished neo classical church that had been languishing for lack of frunds was appropriated and rechristened the pantheon. Mirabeau would be the first member of a new cult of national heroes.
