The Sunderlands are here to rise for game and like everybody else, but it's interesting see just how bought in they are. It's remarked how poor they are comparatively because of the same thing because they can't smuggle anymore. That was their main source of income. So they're fish lords now. Another way that they're basically fish lords is that they have webbed fingers and mysterious connections to the deep ones.
