The Purpose of Luke's Gospel
Luke had a particular purpose in writing his gospel, but very quickly you see that Luke is wanting his readers to keep in mind the entirety of Scripture. The early chapters of Luke, the Luke chapter one, especially is just saturated with illusions and quotations drawn from the Old Testament. It's really fascinating. I hope I don't bore my congregation with all this. But it's just amazing to see what he's doing. He has a purpose in writing, but he's not wanting to have the people who are reading his gospel narrowly focused on just his words.
