How to Write a Short Story That Will Make You Want to Read It
Short fiction tends to be much more tightly focused and it has a smaller cast and fewer plot threads. The most common thing I hear is, well, my stories don't come to me as short stories. So get an anthology, get a collection, especially a genre collection if that's what you like to write. And just see what the possibilities are. You can create a full world in about 20 pages.
