When Can an Officer Pull You Out of Your Car?

The Supreme Court has said that on a valid traffic stop, a police officer can ask the occupants to step out of the car without needing any additional facts. If they find something when they're searching the passenger compartment, then that will move from reasonable suspicion to probable cause if there's contraband in the car. But it seems like some people are going to get it pulled out of their car and some people aren't. The new legislation in Colorado is requiring officers to provide more detailed reports about every contact, every traffic stop.
