I'm a well established despiser of primaries and all their forms. We're one of the only advanced democracies in the world where if you want to run for the highest legislature in the land as a member of a certain party, the party can't stop you. The institutions need some stewardship, some power over their own brand if they're going to actually work on their brand. I think people should try to be attentive to their local members and care about who your local member is more than just the D by their name.
