There was such a volume of these flashbacks that it would fit beautifully into a three story structure. The best kind of hook you can have is showing us the protagonist's internal conflict, and then starting from that place to going towards the inciting incident. Rice would have been perfect, cause then it opens right up into act two. And then even the first pinch point was in there. I think with em, something happening. There's some like, there are a few different little pinch points in there, but usually, like any kind of little first pinch points to be dangerous later.
