I suppose there's a line that I owe partly to my editor Rosie about the shield that people take up to survive the war of white supremacist society. And so there's almost no overdoing the appreciation we should give, for instance, the black family against the state. Yet and yet when you take up a shield to survive a war, the temptation is to sort of not notice anymore that it's not the nature.
