For months after the murder, kathy says the rumor mill swirled in town. The narrative that took hold suggested that joseph was somehow tied up with drugs or drug dealers and that he'd been killed because of that. But that theory makes no sense to kathy. She said that maybe her son smoked mariwana or drank sometimes, but he didn't struggle with hard drugs, and he wasn't even associated with people who did.
