Is the Book of Revelations Condemnation of Jezebel Representative of a Shifting Attitude Towards Women's Roles in the Church?
In the book Revelation, John criticizes a prophetess called Jezebel. He says she's encouraging people to be sexually immoral and eat food offered to idols. In Paul's day, in 1 Corinthians, Paul chapters 8 and 10, he said, basically, yeah, don't eat the meat. But there's a dispute about whether it's okay or not because some Christians are saying, well, those are pagan gods. If this understanding that Jesus had himself is the understanding of his relationship with God? And so it's got to be interesting for us as we try to figure out who Christ really is.
