Is Diamond's Book Academic Porn?
The idea that the book is academic porn is actually more of a comment on its style. As antrosio puts it, quote, diamond peppers the text with lots of cool stories and anecdotes, but it always goes back to the same factors. The repetitive style keeps a more casual reader from getting lost. To seasoned academics used to wading through dense articles and weighing complex arguments, i get it, it can feel a little light weight, cloying.
