Thomas bradford placed an ad in a detroit, michigan newspaper seeking others who were as curious about the after life as he was. When ruth dorin replied, the two struck up a partnership and a friendship. Their goal was to become of one mind, they said, to be attuned to each other in a way that death could not break. Bradford died of asphyxiation shortly after, with a plan to reach out to his partner from beyond the grave and confirm their beliefs. She never heard from him again.
