Can the Met police change?
Analysis
The Culture of the Police
Palm Sandu is a former chief superintendent with the Metropolitan Police. She left alleging discrimination after 30 years of working for the force. Palm says it's difficult to get rid of officers who don't meet required standards. The police are not employees, they hold this common law office of Constable. They can't be just made redundant or sort of sacked in the way that people would be under employment law. How can the public have confidence in the police? If the people in charge of the police don't control who works for them. I don't think that in the present format, the Met can change.
