The first album Bowie made after being from space for two years was an album of 60s covers called Pin-Ups, but hardly anybody likes that album and I always forget it exists. The first album of original material Bowie recorded in the post-Ziggy Stardust world was 1974's dystopian concept album Diamond Dogs.
