Closing the Gap: Education and Graduation Rates

Examining the disparities in college graduation rates for Black Americans, this chapter explores the role of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and primarily white institutions. It analyzes the factors that contribute to these graduation rates and highlights the remarkable progress made by HBCUs in advancing low-income students to higher incomes.
