The History of the Mississippian Culture

The oldest known earthwork mound in north america is at watson brake. It dates back to around three thousand 500 b c, which is over four thousand years before the dawn of what we term a mississippian culture. So mound builders exist in the americas for millenniums before the mississippi and culture emerged. The emergence of the mississippan culture was not the result of an event or a migration, but was simply an evolution of the cultures already living in theAmericas at the time.
