The war on poverty was a key turning point in the gutting of social services. The New Deal didn't allocate resources to non-profit agencies, but what were nonprofit agencies then that certainly happened through agencies like the Public Works Administration and whatnot. But if you look at something like the CCC, right, it's not a complicated program. You hire a bunch of poor kids to go plant trees or like, you know, deal with soil erosion,. It's very, very straightforward, right?
