Aaron Carroll: Art reminds me of reality such as it is. And let's face it, history has been a charnel house. The 20th century is just like in terms of pure numbers. There's no Mickey Mouse, there's no Donald Duck. All of this stuff that we've managed to cobble together some convenience and comfort and safety. But you can only maintain that if you're aware of how dangerous it is just outside of it.
