Jung and Tolkien - What Do You Think?
I don't think really that they would have consciously shaped the writing of the Lord of the Rings. That speaks to something that Jung and Tolkien are pointing toward, whether we call it the collective unconscious or the realm of fairy. They were both tapping into something, as you say, powerful. And what do you think is Lance maybe speculated, maybe as two very sensitive individuals, definitely mystics, for lack of better words? I believe Tolkien was having experiences with voices talking to him, just as voices were talking to Jung when he was writing the seven sermons to the dead.
