The Role of Volunteers in the Community
I think that within our profession, many of us have not internalized how important our role is. We shouldn't be waiting for someone else to tell us that the work that we do is something that we should invest in. It's also making sure that we humanize the community that we work with. To me, all of that means it should be professionals who are doing this work. You don't need somebody else to invest in your career. You invest in it first.
